PAINTINGS WEAVING COLOURS
Mario's fascinatie voor kleurmengingen is duidelijk te zien in de serie Weaving Colours. Hij past hier verschillende soorten penseelstreken, spuittechnieken en materiaalsoorten op zo'n manier toe, dat er een spanningsveld ontstaat tussen controle houden en deze juist los te laten.
Je ziet aan de ene kant Mario's streven naar perfectie, terwijl aan de andere kant duidelijk wordt waar hij in zijn schilderijen de vrijheid zoekt. Deze werken zijn daarom te beschouwen als het antwoord op de vragen: wat gebeurt er als je het materiaal de vrije loop laat? In hoeverre stuur je het bij?
Mario's fascination for colour mixing is clearly visible in the Weaving Colours series. He applies different types of brush strokes, spraying techniques and materials in such a way, that a tension is created between keeping control and letting go.
On the one hand, Mario's pursuit of perfection is showing in his paintings, on the other his search of freedom. His works can therefore be regarded as the answer to the questions: what happens if you let the material run free? To what extent do you adjust it?
